Hungary has submitted a bid to host the International Mathematical Olympiad, aiming to bring the competition back to Hungary in 2026 for the fourth time in the competition’s history.

Hungary has been part of the International Mathematical Olympiad from the very beginning, taking part in the first IMO in 1959. Since then, the country has maintained a close and active connection with the competition, both through its contestants and through its role as a host.

Hungary has welcomed the IMO three times before: in Veszprém in 1961, in Keszthely in 1970, and in Budapest in 1982. With its bid to host the 2026 IMO, Hungary aimed to bring the competition back for the fourth time in its history.
